Sensorimotor Group
The Sensorimotor Group (SMG), headed by Prof. Dr. Alexander Gail is closely affiliated with the Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience and the Bernstein Focus for Neurotechnology. Research in the SMG is aimed at understanding the neural basis of sensorimotor transformations, i.e. the cortical mechanisms underlying the planning of voluntary movements.
Decision and Awareness Group
The Decision and Awareness Group (DAG), headed by Dr. Igor Kagan is closely affiliated with the Department of Cognitive Neurology (Prof. Melanie WIlke) at the Medical School. Research in the DAG is focused on neural mechanisms of active perception, decision making and goal-directed actions.
Perception and Plasticity
The Perception and Plasticity Group (PPG), headed by Dr. Caspar Schwiedrzik is closely affiliated with the Neural Circuits and Cognition Group (Dr. Caspar Schwiedrzik) at the European Neuroscience Institute Göttingen. Research in the PPG is focused on the question of how neural plasticity leads to improved perception.
Kognitive Neurologie
The Cognitive Neurology Group (CNG), headed by Prof. Dr. Melanie WIlke is closely affiliated with the Department of Cognitive Neurology (Prof. Melanie WIlke) at the Göttingen Medical School. Research in the CNG is focused on the neural basis of conscious perception and how it relates to the selection and execution of action plans.
