The DPZ has always played a pioneering role in providing the public and media with comprehensive and fact-based information about animal experiments in biomedical research. For its many years of transparent communication on this topic, the institute has now once again been awarded the "Seal of Quality for best-practice Communication on Animal Research". The seal is awarded by the initiative "Transparente Tierversuche" of the "Tierversuche verstehen" information platform to various institutions that are committed to open communication and dialog about animal experiments.

The DPZ uses various channels and measures to educate the public about the topic. This includes, above all, the website, where a separate page provides comprehensive information about animal experiments in general and at the DPZ. Two virtual tours also provide insights into laboratories and animal husbandry. In addition, the DPZ is active on social media, offers regular guided tours of the institute and holds discussions with the interested public at events.

"The German Primate Center (DPZ) shows a continuous and exemplary commitment to public education about animal experiments. Last year, the DPZ not only presented its own work at regional events such as the Ideen-Expo in Hanover and the "Science goes City" campaign day in Göttingen city center, but also provided targeted information about animal research," writes the "Tierversuche verstehen" initiative on its website. In addition to the DPZ, the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in Berlin, the University of Mainz, the Philipps University of Marburg and the Nuremberg Zoo were also awarded the seal of quality in 2024.
